In addition to the comprehensive benefits offered to state of Florida employees, FDC correctional officers will start their careers at $22 an hour, or $48,620 annually. They will receive paid training, special high-risk retirement, and various opportunities for career advancement.

 

Locations offering a $1,000 and/or $5,000 bonus are listed below. The combined $6,000 bonus comes in the form of a three-installment pay plan upon certification.

Hiring Bonus for Education Positions:

Teacher Aides, Vocational Teachers, Academic Teachers and Special Education Teachers may be eligible for a $1000 hiring bonus. The educator bonus will be awarded to new hires who meet the following qualifications:

  • If the position requires a teaching certification, a professional teaching certification must be obtained prior to receiving the bonus. If the position does not require a teaching certification or the candidate is already professionally certified, the employee is eligible for the bonus upon hire.
  • Current and former employees in one of the identified education positions who had a break in service with the Department of 31 days or less, or who previously received the bonus are not eligible for this bonus.
